Here is the fix that finally got me through after hours of hitting the okay button on the -4 iTunes error message:
1) When the error message comes up hit okay, but Do Not Disconnect your iPhone. 2) Quit iTunes 3) Relaunch iTunes 4) Voila. If you had the same luck I did, you're likely breathing easier now just like me.
